Welcome to Mocha Messenger.

This post covers the basics for installing the Windows client, signing in, and getting your first contacts set up.

1. Download Mocha Messenger

Download the current Windows build here:

https://mochachat.net/download/download.html

Run the installer, then launch Mocha Messenger from the Start menu or desktop shortcut.

2. Create or use a Mocha Passport account

Mocha Messenger uses Mocha Passport for sign-in. If you do not have an account yet, use the account creation option in the client or the Passport Member Services pages.

Mocha Passport handles:
  • your sign-in address
  • your display name
  • your password
  • account sessions
  • contact and privacy state
3. Sign in

Open Mocha Messenger, enter your Mocha Passport sign-in address and password, then connect.

If sign-in fails:
  • check the Service Status page: https://mochachat.net/support/status.html
  • make sure your email/password are correct
  • make sure your system clock is reasonably accurate
  • check whether a firewall, proxy, VPN, or network filter is blocking Mocha
4. Add contacts

Use the contact menu or action pane to add another Mocha user. The other person may need to accept your contact request before you can see each other's status.

5. Start a conversation

Double-click a contact to open a conversation. Depending on your build and the contact's availability, you can send messages, files, emoticons, and call invitations.

6. Keep Mocha updated

Mocha includes an updater. If an update is available, the client may offer to install it. Some development builds may be mandatory if they fix service compatibility or account-safety issues.
