Mocha's newer builds support Opus voice and VP8 video over Mocha media relay paths. Conversation quality can still depend heavily on device drivers, firewalls, network conditions, and build compatibility between both users.
Quick checklist
- Make sure both users are on the latest available Mocha build.
- Restart Mocha on both computers before retesting.
- Confirm both users can sign in and exchange normal messages.
- Check that Windows can access the microphone and camera.
- Close other apps that may be using the camera or microphone.
- Allow Mocha through Windows Firewall.
- If you are on a strict network, try another network or hotspot.

Mocha may use media relay paths for voice and video. If UDP is blocked by a local firewall, router, VPS firewall, or network provider, media may fall back or fail.
If a conversation connects but media does not move, check:
- Windows Firewall rules
- router/firewall UDP rules
- VPN or proxy behavior
- whether both users are behind restrictive networks
When reporting conversation issues, please include the footer diagnostic text from the conversation window if it appears. It may mention audio/video codec, relay type, jitter, sent/received frame counts, or transport fallback.
Do not post private IP addresses or sensitive logs unless a moderator asks you to move the issue to a private support channel.
